Breakthrough treatment for treatment-resistant depression

Spravato (Esketamine) Treatment

A new path forward when antidepressants haven't been enough.

What is Spravato?

Spravato (esketamine) is an FDA-approved nasal spray for adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) — meaning depression that has not responded to at least two different antidepressant treatments.

Unlike traditional antidepressants that can take weeks to work, Spravato acts on the brain's glutamate system and can begin to reduce depressive symptoms within hours to days for many patients.

At @Ease Psychiatry, Spravato is administered in our supervised clinical setting. You receive the nasal spray in our office and remain monitored for at least two hours before going home.

Who May Benefit from Spravato?

Spravato may be right for you if you:

  • Have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD)
  • Have tried two or more antidepressants without adequate relief
  • Are currently taking an oral antidepressant
  • Are experiencing significant impairment in daily functioning
  • Have been evaluated by a board-certified psychiatrist

Spravato is also FDA-approved for major depressive disorder with acute suicidal ideation or behavior (MDSI). Our providers will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine if Spravato is appropriate for your situation.

What to Expect During Treatment

01

Initial Evaluation

Your provider reviews your psychiatric history, current medications, and treatment goals to determine if Spravato is appropriate for you.

02

Treatment Sessions

You self-administer the nasal spray under clinical supervision. Sessions are typically twice weekly for the first month, then weekly, then every one to two weeks.

03

Monitored Recovery

You remain in our office for at least two hours after each dose so our team can monitor for any side effects such as dissociation or dizziness.

04

Ongoing Assessment

Your provider tracks your response and adjusts the treatment plan as needed. Spravato is used alongside your existing oral antidepressant.
